David R. Johnson is the inaugural Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Pentecostal Theology. This research post, which carries a modest stipend, provides an opportunity for the Research Fellow to experience all dimensions of the Centre’s life and ministry, including time and space to pursue the Fellow’s owe individual research projects whilst in residence.


David studied Pastoral Ministry at Southeastern University (BS), Biblical Studies at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary – where he was the first MTS graduate and was honored with the American Bible Society’s Biblical Studies Award in 2012, and New Testament at Bangor University (PhD). He has published articles in the Journal of Pentecostal Theology, presented numerous papers at the Society for Pentecostal Studies, and awaits the appearance of his forthcoming monograph entitled Pneumatic Discernment in the Apocalypse – An Intertextual and Pentecostal Exploration to be published by CPT Press in 2018.


Dr Johnson is an adjunct faculty member at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, Lee University, Southeastern University, and Regent University. He has been a faithful and active member of the New Covenant Church of God since his move to Cleveland to take up his graduate studies.


David was in residence at the Centre throughout the entire time of his PhD research and has contributed to the life ministry of the CPT in numerous ways, making him an extraordinary asset to the Centre for Pentecostal Theology in his current research post.
